The NY Times tells us that hard times for the poor have reached the point of eating roadkill.
But don't think our government is indifferent to the plight of the poor. Montana's lower house of the legislature recently passed a measure permitting the poor to scrape roadkill off the the asphalt and take it home to eat - by an impressive 95-to-3 vote. (Of course, the right to roadkill doesn't apply to "valued animals".) Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois and West Virginia already allow their poor to scrape roadkill.
The article assures us:
the value of fresh roadkill is well appreciated by adaptive hunters and by food bank operators, who help the poor survive
