Obama announces that he will shift missile defense interceptors to Alaska, to protect us from North Korean missiles.
Interestingly enough, this has huge implications for arms control treaties with Russia.
Because the Obama administration goes on to state that now we don't have the resources to place interceptors in Poland or Romania. These interceptor location had really been irritating Russia, and making them unwilling to pursue arms controls treaties.
So bottom line, big arms control breakthrough. Pretty smart, as it was done with the idea to provide us additional protection from North Korea. So no one can complain about that!
Maybe Obama planned this all along. But it is the first significant policy development under Hagel, and it's consistent with his desire to reduce nuclear weapons. Go Chuck!!!
