Hi again, all you NYC area Kossacks! Spring is here (though it doesn't feel much like it today), and to celebrate, we've got a special-event meetup scheduled: not just our usual brunch/dinner hangout (though we have that, too), but a theater outing! It's a show with special interest for us political types, and the meetup itself includes some Special Guest Stars, too!

Please follow me below the Flying Orange Monogram for all the exciting details:

Those of you who've been coming to our Spitzer's Corner meetups will recall meeting Albany-area Kossacks devtob and LuLu a few months back. If you've got a really good memory, you'll recall that they ducked out early because they were going to the theater to see War Horse at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, because LuLu's son is a tech there.

Well, they're coming down to NYC once again to see his work in action, and this time we're all invited to join them to see Ann, Holland Taylor's one-woman show about the great Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas (and mother of Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood). Not only that, but we'll be joined by another upstate Kossack who I believe needs no introduction: Denise Oliver Velez,  someone I adore and respect and get to see far too seldom.

Here's the plan: brunch at noon, followed by a matinee performance of Ann. You can join us for the brunch only if you prefer, or for the show only, or both! I've found a likely spot for brunch that's an easy walk to the theater; details below.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
