Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Beverages....I like a wide variety of beverages and often I like to have both hot and cold beverages handy to drink at the same time. I don't know where I picked up that habit, but I've passed it along to a number of other people.

It might be Itzl's fault.

Once I started taking him everywhere with me, I usually carried bottled water for him, but at some point I either ran out of water or forgot it, so I ordered a water for him so I could pour some in his water dish, and a drink for me (hot tea, hot water to brew my own tea or bouillon, cocoa, occasionally coffee...), and I'd drink part of his ice water - because they seem to be chronically incapable of bringing water to the table without ice.

Then I did it again. And again, until it became a habit.

And colleagues and friends eating out with me would see me with two beverages, and they'd order two. Now, it's common among us all when we have to eat out that we order two drinks, and when we eat at one another's home, we provide two drinks for everyone.

Usually the second drink is water, but not always. And now, it doesn't have to be one hot and one cold, it can be two cold drinks or one hot and one cold. I don't think anyone's gone for two hot drinks room to expand!

At work, I often have multiple drinks happening - hot tea, water, lemonade or iced tea or flavored water, and every now and then a juice or a soda. There are some days when I have as many as 4 drinks on my desk, plus Itzl's drinks.

Why yes, he indulges in the two drinks habit, too.  One is water, and the other is broth or stock or flavored water.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
