I just want to do my job, yanno? I'd like to have access to the files I need to use, and the tools I need to do the job right. It would be nice if I had lights in my office so I could see my work, too. Working with a flexible neck flashlight doesn't provide enough light coverage.

Every time the IT department comes in and changes things, like moving a clump of files to a new server, it messes up everything on my computer and it takes a week or more to get permissions and access back for all the different drives and files I need scattered across a number of servers.
I don't have admin permission to make any changes on my computer.
And so I am knocked out of being able to do the bulk of my job until IT has time to fix all the issues that arise from making those changes. And don't get me started on all the time it takes when they do something major like replacing the tower or the monitor. I don't understand why it has to be done this way. When they make the changes, I have a list of all the drives I need access to and all the programs I use on a regular basis and need to have installed and functioning. and every time, they make changes, I spend a week (or more!) tracking IT down to beg for these things to be restored on my computer.
In the dark.
With the heat as well as the lights turned off to save money.
Come warmer weather, we will, however, have the cold turned on, since the servers all share space with me and apparently need to be kept cold. Very cold.
At least I have my mug warmer for my tea and a heating pad for Itzl.
And they don't object to me buying all my own office supplies so I at least have that to work with.
But I can't fix the computer issues. This frustrates me because I know how to do it, I just don't have the admin passwords to do it. I hate bugging IT to keep coming back because I wasn't connected to this drive or that.
I'd like to blame this on budget issues, but really, we had these issues long before there were budget problems. It hasn't gotten worse, nor has it improved. I have this fit all quiet and in my head at least twice a year (every time IT upgrades), and I guess I will continue having this fit until I retire.
But I don't have to like it.
So here, have some pretty pictures from last year's Water Paws at the OU Medieval Fair to make things calmer, and then go off and read all the lovely Tops: Top Comments, Top Mojo, and the pretties in the Picture Quilt:
