The police report details are getting out.
Even though the gun shop clerks thought there was something "off with him" -- the Tucson Shooter was armed and dangerous again in no time.
Faster than it takes a person to get a credit card or passport -- you can get an assault weapon at the drop of a hat. Just fill in all "No's" on the self-policed gun shop questionnaire.
They trust you. (... if you have the cash.)

Daniel Hernandez: It's disturbing to see how he was able to actually get a weapon. And to see that our Background Check is so broken ... that someone, who's parents took away his shotgun, and said that they were disabling his car, was still able to go and -- after being expelled from a community college -- purchase a semi-automatic Glock with extended magazines.
Lawrence O'Donnell: There's a lot of details in the police reports, about the people working at the store where he bought the weapons, one of whom actually knew him. Each one of them had a reaction that there was something "off with him." And one of the guys there that actually knew him, was the most suspicious of him. And yet Patricia, he had no problem walking out of there with gun.
Patricia Maisch: You know it is easier to buy a gun than to buy Sudafed. If you go into the store to buy Sudafed, you have to sign your name, you have to show them your Drivers License, you have to tell them you're not going to use it for some illicit purpose. And you know the Second Amendment rights people, forget about the 2nd and 3rd words in that Amendment: "well regulated."
We don't have much regulation. We do need make it so that the mental health system doesn't fail us again. we need to make sure everybody's got the names on the Background Check list, that will keep them from buying a gun. And then we need to make sure that every gun sale has a Background Check.
If they can make us wait 2 weeks to get a mortgage, surely they can make us wait 2 weeks to ensure a person is "responsible enough" (no felonies, no mental issues) in order to walk out a gun shop (or gun show), with a powerful weapon in hand -- a brand new weapon
designed to replace the one his parents just took away.
