I have to wonder what "family values" this falls under the guidelines of. If child pornography isn't bad enough the comments section beneath the news article is enough to make one ill. More details beneath the fold...
What is it with Republicans and their followers that they generally have no compassion for victims of sex crimes. As disgusted as I am with his alleged crimes http://www.nwfdailynews.com/... including possession and transmission of child pornography I was shocked to find comment after comment lamenting how:
"it can't be him", "he's not the type", "prayers for his family", "he's done so much for our community", and this precious one: "Lane is not that man! I am Outraged by the lack of compassion you people have! Really, I guess it just proves your lack of education/ intelligence .... Innocent until proven guilty!"
I didn't find much in the way of anyone feeling sad for the victims, just sad that this wonderful man's life is ruined. I'm so mad I am shaking right now. What in the world is wrong with society?
Even the news article seems to be singing his praises and can't seem to stop listing all his accomplishments.
Rees owns his own business, Human Resources Solutions.
He was elected the countyâs Republican state committee man in 2008 and has served in that capacity since. His wife, Brenda, is the countyâs elected state committee woman.
Rees emerged on the political scene in Walton County in 1999 when he was appointed executive director of the South Walton Community Council.
The next year, Rees was elected to the Walton County Commission.
He served as a commissioner for four years but was defeated in his reelection bid by a fellow Republican, 23-year-old candidate named Scott Brannon.
The Rees-Brannon campaign was eye opening for the amount of money that was raised by two men seeking a seat that paid less than $34,000 a year. The Florida Commission on Ethics would later fine Brannon and a group that supported his campaign for violations.
Rees was named the âCommunity Walton Man of the Yearâ in 2011.
Is it really necessary to include all that in an article supposedly about a guy being busted for not just possessing child pornography but transmitting it? Did we need to know all this about his campaign and lost election? I'm just disgusted by all of it.
