Now that Mark Sanford gloated in his primary victory next to his Argentinian mistress, to whom he is now engaged, we should remember his "Christian" outrage at Bill Clinton's affair and his vote to impeach:

This is "very damaging stuff," Sanford declared at one point, when details of Clinton's conduct became known. "I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign)... I come from the business side," he said. "If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he'd be gone."

Explaining his decision to back impeachment articles against Clinton, he added, "I think what he did in this matter was reprehensible... I feel very comfortable with my vote."

HuffPo: Sanford Was Harsh Critic Of Clinton Affair, Called President A Rascal

Just to remind you, Sanford used state funds to screw his mistress in Argentina:

After his affair was revealed in June 2009, Sanford first claimed, "There's been a lot of speculation and innuendo on whether or not public moneys were used to advance my admitted unfaithfulness. To be very clear: no public money was ever used in connection with this."[58]

After a reporter used the Freedom of Information Act to seek records of what public funds were used to pay for Sanford's trip to Argentina,[59] Sanford eventually chose to reimburse taxpayers for expenses he had incurred one year earlier with his mistress in Argentina.[60] He said, "I made a mistake while I was there in meeting with the woman who I was unfaithful to my wife with. That has raised some very legitimate concerns and questions, and as such I am going to reimburse the state for the full cost of the Argentina leg of this trip.” On August 9, 2009, the AP reported that Sanford may have violated state law by other abusive use of state planes, including to fly to get a haircut.

wikepedia.

He never resigned, finished his term, and now wants to be in Congress.

Republican family values: Mark Sanford, Vitter in Louisiana.  All you have to do is say "I repent" and Republicans will vote for you.  As for his mistress, will she wonder at night as she ages whether Mark is hiking that Appalachian Trail with a new soulmate?

Hypocrisy goes hand in hand with Republican Fundamentalists.

My suggestion for a Sanford ad:

Tired of your spouse?  Is she (or he)  getting a little up on years?  Is the pizzaz gone?  Tired of sex with the same person?

If you're a Republican, there is an answer!  Hi, I'm Mark Sanford, and I want to invite you to take a walk on the Appalachian Trail to your very own Argentine firecracker!

Family values means never having to be stuck screwing your spouse when a younger model comes long!

Vote Sanford and leave that old ball and chain behind!

This message brought to you by Mark Sanford, family man, Christian, and noted trail hiker!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
