Oh noes the UN is coming for our guns, Comandante Obama's New World Order!

You have to admire the paranoia.

“I have great concerns that this treaty can be used to violate the second amendment rights of American citizens, and do not believe we should sign any treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of our country,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)
And you just know a couple of Democrats will join in the bipartisan crazy
Thirty-four senators have signed on to a resolution pledging to kill it. Among them are Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (WV) and Max Baucus (MT) — the chairman of the powerful Finance Committee, who faces reelection in 2014.
Are they planning to turn the US into a tyrannical/talibangelical state?

It's the only reason |I can grasp for voting against an international treaty that affects nobody in the US at all.

Way to go Senators, joining with North Korea, Iran and Syria in opposition.

“Finally we have seen the governments of the world come together and say ‘Enough!’ ” said Anna MacDonald, the head of arms control for Oxfam International, one of the many rights groups that pushed for the treaty. “It is time to stop the poorly regulated arms trade. It is time to bring the arms trade under control.”
She didn't count on our frothing at the mouth and clutching their guns brigade.

Let the slaughter continue they say.

At least they are as consistent in their bloodlust abroad as at home.

Apparently no amount of carnage can convince them that the sale of guns need to be regulated.

Goddammit just arm everyone turn the world into one big shooting gallery.

Give the most vicious men on the planet the means to keep the blood flowing.

Irresponsible, sociopathic jackasses.

Dear god, and all the cold dead bodies littering the planet.

Hail Kim Jung Cornyn

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
