LakeSuperior here with a question to pose to all DK Democrats in the Chicago-Whiting-Gary area who consider themselves either conservation stewards and/or marine navigators of Southern Lake Michigan.
I'm interested in all reports in response to my question, but I'm particularly interested in first person accounts gained from personal knowledge or observation in their experience of certain Lake Michigan waters.
This is a water quality question concerning the shoreline and near-shore waters (within 1 mile) of the Indiana portion of Lake Michigan, particularly at Whiting, IN in or near this stretch Lake Michigan shoreline:

I want to determine if there is any palpable and credible evidence of historical, recent or present water quality impairment in this area involving releases of heavily colored (i.e. brownish plumes and visual evidence) from industrial process wastewater.
For example, if anyone has personally observed heavily and unnaturally colored plumes/currents of water impacting the beach, swimming or fishing areas near Whiting, I'd like to know about that.
If you do recreational boating or fishing just off or near this
stretch of Whiting, IN Lake Michigan beach, have you ever observed unusual or unnatural plumes of black or brownish colored water covering large areas?
Any responses, either in the comments or to me individually are welcome.
