Welcome to the Tuesday Coffee Hour here on Street Prophets. This is an open thread where we can hang out and talk about what’s going on in our worlds. Having spent some time recently wandering through an art museum, I thought we might start today’s conversation with art, creativity, and an art installation called The Gathering.
In The Gathering, artist Gary Horinek uses dirt, cement, gravel, timbers, and native grasses in the same way that many artists use paint or clay. The installation occupies a large gallery in the Missoula Art Museum and the viewer is free to roam within the elements of the installation instead of viewing the work in a classical sense.
But Wait! There’s more! Just outside of the large gallery, tucked up against the stairs going upstairs, there’s neat little cabinet which gives people an opportunity to participate in the creative process like Gary Horinek.
Shown above is the result of the creative endeavors of state of confusion.
Now it’s your turn to be creative….or not. This is an open thread. Feel free to talk about what’s happening in your life, what you’ve been thinking about, and, most important, what’s for dinner.
