By now most people have heard about the leaked tapes from the office of Mitch McConnell and the ensuing hissy-fit it drew from the Senator for Communist China. Of course as always with McConnell it was some left-wing conspiracy against him because of the "noble" work he has been doing for this country. And also as always with McConnell it was a new way for him to do his favorite thing. Raise money off gullible Americans. Now after whining to the FBI the McConnell "brain-trust" is reporting that progress is being made in the "investigation".
It seems as if the FBI has nothing better to do than to placate the crybaby Senator from Kentucky that really represents Communist China:
The FBI swept Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell's (Ky.) campaign office on Wednesday morning and, according to the senator’s campaign manager, found “good leads” in its investigation into leaked recordings that revealed aides to the GOP senator discussing ways to attack actress Ashley Judd.
Jesse Benton, McConnell’s campaign manager, told The Hill in an email the FBI had been to the senator’s campaign headquarters in Louisville.
“The FBI was at our office for about an hour this morning,” Benton wrote. “They are working on some good leads. Unfortunately, I cannot comment further on this ongoing criminal investigation and [the FBI] asked me to refer all questions for the time being to their Louisville field office.”
In a radio interview with conservative host Mike Huckabee, Benton said the FBI is taking the investigation “very seriously” and that he was pleased with its response to the tapes.

However, on further reflection since the FBI has become involved maybe they should look at other aspects of the McConnell office and those working there:
Meanwhile, the Public Campaign Action Fund questioned whether McConnell violated federal law or Senate ethics rules by having legislative aides do research on his potential opponents.
“If Mitch McConnell used his Senate staff and government resources to do opposition research into the health and religious beliefs of a potential challenger, not only would it likely be a violation of Senate ethics rules and federal law, it’s also a violation of common decency. Kentucky voters deserve better,” said David Donnelly, executive director of the group, which opposes McConnell on a number of issues including campaign finance reform.
Federal law and Senate rules both prohibit federal employees from working in campaigns on government time and property, but nothing would prevent a federal employee from working on a campaign during their off-hours or outside federal offices.
Benton refused to discuss any legislative aide’s role after questions on the issue were both emailed to him and asked of him after he made a short statement.

So here at Hillbilly Report, while we do not wield the significant power Mitch McConnell uses to destroy the American middle-class all while enriching the Communists in China we are asking the FBI this. While you are already in his office, why not investigate whether he and his staff broke federal law? And to those who lead the Senate, why not investigate whether he broke the ethics rules of that institution?
Inquisitive minds want to know.
