Authorities have identified the man who took five firefighters hostage in Suwanee, Georgia. Lauren Holman Brown, 55, was a resident of the home for more than 10 years before he was killed by SWAT officers.
According to USA Today, Brown was living in the Wells Fargo foreclosed home without power, cable TV, or Internet. He demanded that his utilities be reconnected. Here is the audio from one of the firefighters to his dispatcher after being taken hostage.
The firefighter tells the dispatcher that the gunman has "multiple handguns, multiple rifles," and that he wants his cable, Internet, and power turned on by 5:30.
When negotiations failed, the SWAT team entered the home killing Brown in an exchange of gunfire. The four firefighters were slightly injured by a flash-bang grenade, and one police officer was wounded. All have been treated and released.
