Hell No!
Just yesterday, President Obama stated,
"I will not agree to any deal that seeks to cut the deficit on the backs of middle class families," Mr. Obama wrote in the budget blueprint released Wednesday. "I am willing to make tough choices that may not be popular within my own party, because there can be no sacred cows for either party."

If President Obama makes a Grand Bargain with the Republicans and cuts items like Social Security and Medicare, or even Tricare for military families and military retirees, it will harken back to the days of President Bill Clinton and his famous bargain that cut free health care for military retirees. Talk about sacred cows - back then we never believed that the President would sign legislation that took away a benefit promised from the day folks signed the dotted line. It would take two decades for military folks to think about voting Democrat again. Most of today's active duty personnel don't remember how military retirees fought all the way to the Supreme Court to protect that hard earned and long promised benefit. When retirees lost that battle, they learned the hard lesson that promises made to the military are not the same as a contract;
they learned that government is not trustworthy.
And that's the crux of the matter, a trustworthy government. It isn't about a government that is too big or too small, it's about a government that we trust to spend our tax money appropriately.
We're watching President Obama make a huge mistake - he'll offer up programs like Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and Tricare in the name of bringing Republicans to the table they don't care to sit down to. They've ignored that table for 5 years now. Why do we think this time is any different? Because President Obama will load that table like a buffet line at a Las Vegas Casino... they'll smack down their measly 20 bucks a head and gorge on crab legs and prime rib while we watch them feast. If we were casino owners, we'd chuckle as they waddle out the door to hit the tables and pay us back with their gambling debt. But we don't own any casinos and we have no fall back position.
Once a Grand Bargain passes, there won't be any going back. Military Retirees learned that lesson the hard way. Will we be next?
