I just saw the Former Governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell frantically spinning and STILL selling the Chained-CPI to Alex Witt, today on MSNBC (sorry have yet to find a video clip of it.)
Rendell tried to sell the idea of the Chained-CPI through a variety of ways, and even took the time to address directly the Democratic Progressive Base.
Roughly put, here were his arguments trying to defend the Chained-CPI:
"If he (Ed) were King -- he'd raise the FICA Ceiling. But he's not -- so we've got to be practical."
'Republicans will never raise Taxes -- unless we meet them half way, which is what the President is doing with the Chained-CPI.'
'There will be "carve outs" for those most hurt by the Chained-CPI.' (To which host Alex Witt wryly noted, "Yes those kind of 'carve-outs' that have worked out so well with the Sequester Cuts, haven't they? You mean 'Carve-outs' like that?")
When challenged on what bad negotiating tactics that offering up Chained CPI is, Rendell replied:
'Well the President always has the Retirement-Age in reserve to work with (ie offer) later.'
Rendell concluded, once again addressing the disgruntled base:
"You can't always get what you want."
(The Rolling Stones reference was then pointed out by Alex, who was somewhat puzzled by it.)
The whole damn mix-master spinning time,
Mr Revolving-door Rendell NEVER disclosed he was a representative of the
Fix-the-Debt messaging machine,
backed by a half-billion dollars, that is
bound and determined to roll-back YOUR Retirement security.
The Peterson "Fix the Debt" watch list:

Funny that. That lack of disclosure regarding his Peter G. Peterson connections.
Yes Ed, but "sometimes we get what we need."
The blatant lack of disclosure by Mr Corporate-Rep Rendell, really shouldn't surprise us -- as it seems he has turned his Credibility-Pawning into a bit of a Cottage Industry ...
Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell fails to disclose connection to natural gas firm in pro-fracking column
by Justin Elliott, ProPublica -- April 9, 2013
Recently, we wrote about former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell’s connections to the natural gas industry after he published a pro-fracking op-ed in The New York Daily News.
Following our story, Rendell’s column 2014 which called on New York officials to lift a ban on the drilling technique 2014 was updated to disclose that he is a paid consultant to a private equity firm with natural gas investments.
[...]
Rendell is currently special counsel at the firm [law firm Ballard Spahr of Philadelphia], and is a member of its energy and project finance and environment and natural resources practice areas, his spokeswoman said.
The firm touts its work “on the forefront” of the development of the Marcellus Shale, the formation under Pennsylvania and other states from which a vast quantity of natural gas is now being extracted.
This kind of revolving-door profiting must someday end.
Until then we must demand FULL DISCLOSURE -- whether it is Republicans or Democrats -- who appear on our TVeees and in our Newspapers, to sell us something supposedly for our own good
-- WITHOUT disclosing how they are personally profiting by selling us the Agenda of their Corporate Sponsors.
This kind of undisclosed revolving-door profiteering must someday end. Starting with Eat-your-Spinach Rendell now.
Sorry Guv. Fess up.
PS. Thanks to your Chained CPI -- We no longer can afford Spinach!
