In a Quinnipiac University Polling Institute
poll released this month, 91% of Americans support universal background checks for gun sales.
Yesterday, the Senate, taking up the same issue in the proposal from Senators Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) and Pat Toomey (R-Pennsylvania) to expand background checks on firearm purchases and close the gun show loophole, failed to allow the bill to proceed, with the vote breaking down as follows:
Democrats: 50 (91%) for, 5 (9%) against.
Republicans: 4 (9%) for, 41 (91%) against.
Can there be any clearer evidence of which party is completely, 180 degrees in opposition to the will and best interests of the American people?
