Okay, so by now you've probably seen State Rep. Nate Bell's (R-AR) stupid tweet this morning — as @NateBell4AR:
I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?
I saw it first in
a blog post by the inimitable and
indispensable Charlie Pierce. At his suggestion, I used
Rep. Bell's contact info to offer some advise. As usual, see below.
Dear Rep. Bell,
Someone is hoaxing on you with a fake Twitter account in your name. They recently posted "I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?"
Someone is trying to make you out to be a feckless dingleberry. Obviously you know that if well-armed and highly trained police officers can be taken unexpectedly and shot by deranged rampaging killers, then obviously civilians could be as well.
And of course you don't think that last night's skirmish and firefight in densely populated Watertown, Mass. would have gone better if amateurs had joined in the festivities, taking potshots out their windows.
I know a good number of liberals in these parts, and none of them was "cowering". Everybody was using the internet (which we kind of invented in these parts, btw, along with government funding support, and the encouragement of a certain former US Senator) to stay in touch with each other, keep our friends and loved ones apprised, and make sure that everyone in the affected areas knew to stay in their homes, vigilant, while our professionally trained public servants went about their work in an organized, coordinated, and non-accidentally-lethal-to-each-other-or-bystanders way.
So I'd advise you to look into this @NateBell4AR fella, because he's on the way towards making you look like a feckless dingleberry. And you wouldn't want that.
sincerely,
-- G.L. Dryfoos,
neither cowering, nor a fan of feckless dingleberries
If a reply is forthcoming, I'll let you know here. I'm not expecting one.
