This is my first diary. I don't really have much to say about politics, certainly nothing that isn't already being said here already in a more informed, responsible, and well-cited way. That said, I have come to notice the peripheral communities at Daily KOS, and realize that discussing the topics of, say, literature, beer, or vehicular maintenance with people of (broadly) the same mindset is probably a good thing.
So, I wanted to gently share some things that I have been writing. They are short, fictional pieces, presented in blog format, completely absurd, and hopefully amusing. It is called "Great Unwritten Works" and the premise is simply that I have always been unable to collate ideas into any kind of larger work. I've decided to just share these snippets, instead of just discarding them or inflicting them on my wife, who should not have to share that burden alone.
As I constructed the site last week, I very unexpectedly ended up presenting it "in character." My alter ego is apparently a mysterious asshole, largely unsuccessful, hopefully funny and almost certainly irritating. (I really hope this is an alter ego). I liked the result and have since endeavored to maintain that tone throughout the site, so this diary is also an opportunity to step out of that character.
As self-promotion makes me rather uncomfortable (I feel literal guilt when I barge into the Twitter/Facebook feeds of my friends and family to link this stuff), I'll just leave it at that. There are three pieces up so far... have a look if you like.
