So commendatory, for organizer figbash and cohort broths!
After a long winter hiatus, a handful of Chicago Kossacks got together and in the spirit of volunteering presented ourselves to the Heller Nature Center on Chicago's North Shore. The lovely broths and her husband were our hosts. Mr. broths has been a volunteer at the Center since its inception and was our team leader in the work we did to help in the eradication of an invasive species called buckthorn. It's a nasty invader and its name describes it well.

Asheville is a wonderful blue spot in a sea of red. It is a lively center for the arts, music, and craft beers among other things. Kossacks randallt, davehouck, and Joieau organized our first Asheville kossack meetup. As promised, they cast a very wide net and we had kossacks in attendance from as far away as Roanoke, the greater Charlotte area, and Johnson City, Tenn. To say that this meetup was a great success is an understatement.
In attendance but not in order of the photo above:
First pic: Audri and Alicia meeting in real life after bonding online at Cheers & Jeers since 2004! They look like long lost sisters! Sweet!
Second pic: randallt juggling fire and when done, ate it! Such Kossack talent coming out of Asheville!

Additional Bonus Follow-up Diary:
This is my promised follow up diary on the Asheville meetup and what's next for the commemorative [tie-dye] shirts. [...]

Latest Updates on Kossack Regional Meet-Up News Below the New Day sunrise cloud
Our fourth Los Angeles Kossacks meetup took place at Casey's Irish Pub in beautiful downtown Los Angeles yesterday afternoon. Ten of us ate, drank and talked politics and lots of other things, plus Dante Atkins made a very good case for why we should think very carefully about Eric Garcetti in the mayoral runoff. People came and went throughout the afternoon, mostly because traffic was its usual self and the people who drove, well . . .
Close-up head-shot photos and food pr0n content here!
What a nice lunch today in Redlands. Thanks to everyone for braving the 80+ degree heatwave to make it out to Eureka!Burger. We got a chance to talk a little DKos and politics.
Let's build communities!
Every region needs a meatspace community like SFKossacks.
We take care of each other in real life.
I urge YOU to take the lead and organize one in your region.
Please tell us about it if you do and we're here for advice.

Cheers & Jeers-* New Day * Dinner
TIME: 5:30 PM
LOCATION: The Brit (Britannia Arms)
173 W. Santa Clara St. (walking distance from Conv. Center) • Downtown San Jose
Every year since 2007, Common Sense Mainer has organized a dinner for the readers of Cheers & Jeers who attend Netroots Nation. It has grown every year. Last year we had over 100 Kossacks attend. CSM always chooses a restaurant willing to handle a large crowd WITH SEPARATE CHECKS. (!?!) Yes, I know, hard to believe but it's worked the last several years. This year CSM has negotiated with The Brit for a special menu and separate checks are secured. If you'd like to join us please leave a comment in this diary and you'll be put on the RSVP list below. This year * New Day * and SFKossacks are co-hosting. All regional groups are invited to attend in addition to the loyal C&J following that Bill and Michael have.
ORGANIZER: Send navajo a kosmail to attend or leave a comment.
The plenary table list below will also be the RSVP list for this event. Dinner attendees will have an asterisk by their name.
