Embattled Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) went on Fox News and criticized President Obama for not declaring the Boston marathon bomber an enemy combatant. The only problem is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is an American citizen. Bachmann either
- doesn't know that American citizens cannot be declared enemy combatantsor
- finds it inconvenient so she's ignoring that detail.
After all, Tsarnaev is Muslim and in her fevered mind all Muslims are terrorists so therefore they don't deserve civil rights. Or something.
Sadly, I can't get the video to work. Here's a link to the video.
Bachmann is a self-proclaimed constitutional scholar. Van Susteren even reminds viewers that she's an attorney but fails to mention it's from an unaccredited law school associated with Oral Roberts. Here are the details:
Appearing on Fox News' "On The Record" with Greta Van Susteren, Bachmann was critical of the Obama administration for filing charges too quickly "against terrorist number two," the term she calls Tsarnaev. She classified him as an "Islamic jihadist," deeming the alleged actions as a decision to "declare war."
"Now we have essentially duct tape over the mouth of this terrorist and we can't use him to link together this treasure trove of information," said Bachmann, who is a lawyer. "The people hurt the most are the people watching your show and innocent Americans all across the United States. That shouldn't be. That's a miscarriage of justice."
Was Bachmann thinking we'd only get information out of him if we could torture him? I'm certain that she believes in the myth that torture works.
This will become a conspiracy theory that Obama conspired with Attorney General Eric Holder to stifle Tsarnaev before he could spill all the beans:
"And trust me, this decision would have been made at the top level," Bachmann replied. "That's why we have to question Eric Holder and the president of the United States. Who made this decision?"
