Just another day in a climate-crazy world.  Or not.

They report. We decide.

Afterall, the definition of "weird weather" seems to be a moving target lately.

150 car rescues -- is that a lot?  Maybe, maybe not.

They report. We decide.

Storms sweep across Texas and the South, dumping up to 7 inches of rain

by Erin McClam and Daniel Arkin, NBC News -- Apr 28, 2013

A day after heavy downpours flooded Texas and parts of the South -- dumping as much as 7 inches of rain in some areas -- waters were receding in Houston on Sunday morning, officials said.

On Saturday, Houston firefighters conducted at least 150 rescues of motorists who accidentally drove into high water and became trapped in their vehicles, Evans said.

Floods, torrential downpours, and rivers of ice -- in Texas!

"Ice from Hail formed a river outside of Reliant Stadium."

"The ice is moving in the form of a river."

"That's the accumulation of dime-size and quarter-size hail."

Now we've seen everything.   Maybe, maybe not.

Flooding, Water Rescues Reported in Houston

Associated Press  -- Apr 28, 2013

Flooding became a major, life-threatening concern on Saturday night after inches of rain fell in the Houston, Texas area. According to The Weather Channel's Severe Weather Expert, Dr. Greg Forbes, rainfall totals of more than a half-foot were reported, including one report of 8.12 inches in Sugar Land-Meadows Place.

Hobby Airport reported 6.05 inches of rain Saturday, about half of it coming in just one hour. However, the April 27 daily record of 6.20 inches from 1972 remained intact.

I guess that's what you call a "once in decade" Texas storm. Thankfully, their all-time record is still in tact. Whew!

I wonder if they keep records for Hail-Ice-Rivers?

Maybe they had better start.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
