At least 500 workers, progressives, social justice activists and friends came out today for a march and rally in protest of the national meeting of ALEC in Oklahoma City. I took photos of the pre-march rally and march, but was unable to stay for the featured rally after the march, which featured national anti-ALEC organizers, Oklahoma state representatives, labor leaders, progressive organizers and others.
I hope others can fill some info/photos of the parts of the event I missed.

Hundreds of marchers, many dressed in union colors and holding signs that said "ALEC HURTS" and "Stop the War on Workers" filed in front of the Cox Center where the American Legislative Exchange Council was holding a national meeting. Chants and whistles made raucus that they hoped could be heard inside. Nearby, a large helium-filled cigar-chomping hog symbolized the greed and callousness that the marchers charged the organization with promoting.
The crowd was diverse, with local unions, political organizations, churches, and other groups represented. Many grey heads could be seen, but also numerous youngsters with self-made posters. While the chants directed at ALEC were angry, the mood was upbeat, with lots of enthusiasm for messages of unity and ongoing political action.
OKC didn't let ALEC come to town without giving them a strong message that even in a "red" state, they will not avoid getting called out for their anti-worker, anti-middle class agenda.
Thanks to all who came out and made the event such a success!
