Greg Dworkin shared the latest from Public Policy Polling, showing boosts for Senators facing reelection who voted for the recent background check legislation, and polling hits for those voting against it. Surprise! Plus, Media Matters reporting on new NRA President, who turns out to be a nutter. Surprise! And if you heard Chris Hayes call "gun culture" into question last night, recall that you heard it first from Greg! Also: we watch a conservative commentator say the Age of Enlightenment led to the Holocaust, and therefore reason sucks. (Bipartisan compromise with this, please! Even though compromise is rooted in reason. Which is Teh Hitler.) A great James Wolcott piece neatly rolling up gun issues. A NYT article on a marked increase in suicides, and possible ties to economic conditions and outlook. That segues to Felix Salmon's "The systemic plight of labor," followed by a quick second look at the Pennsylvania privatized prison nightmare, and how it relates to everything else in the show today. Which is to say: ALEC.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

I love your GunFail series, and we have posted about it quite a few times.  I am a co-creator and moderator of a forum that, among other things, is dedicated to satiring and mocking gun culture.

We have the only crowdsourced mass shooting tracker in the United States, the first of its kind and the only one of its kind.  I think it is more accurate than the Violence Policy Center's.  My forum has actually been featured on the Huffington Post.

I invite you to contact me so I can show you around.  It is easily the best concentrated source for gun control related articles on the web.  All that said, I'm not here to plug the forum to kos generally, I just want to initiate contact with you.  I have a very good story for you, if you are interested.

Unfortunately, I can't send a message or create diaries yet, and I don't want to spam the website here.  But perhaps I can link to the mass shooting tracker here?

I read that you cannot send messages, but can you read them? Do you know how to check messages?

    •  By all means! (0+ / 0-)

Go ahead and link to your site. And please feel free to do it in the GunFAIL diaries as well.

I don't even remember how long it takes to get access to messaging here. But assuming it's soon, I'll look forward to hearing from you!
