UPDATE
GMO Free Idaho has agreed to hand the March against Monsanto to a new organizer. I apologize for the back and forth decisions on this, there was an apparent breakdown in communication. Leslie will be removing our information from the event page and resigning as host. I have already resigned as host as well.
GMO Free Idaho had originally not made a decision whether or not to participate in this march as we have several other projects in the works. We were set to have a meeting to discuss the matter when we learned that Lindsey Rhinehart had signed up to host it. When she asked us to take it over, we had made clear that we have some specific strategies and goals in mind. We agreed to do the march as a favor to her and the people who wanted to attend a march. I am confident we are on the same side of this issue, but as the directors of GMO Free Idaho we have some other issues at play. We are working with a specific strategy in mind for our organization.
There were a number of people who were unhappy with the changes we made. We did our best to explain our intent and garner support from them but they really are sincerely eager to stay with the original theme and language. We totally understand! We never intended to cause a stir. We have been doing this for a long time and this is a first for us.
We also realized there is no reason for us to organize the march if we don't fit the vision of what many people are wanting for this particular march. Organizers who subscribe to the original intent of the march are best suited to lead it and it would have been so much better for all of us if stayed in those hands! It appears the national organizers have provided plenty of material for you to make this march a success!
We can host our own march whenever we want, and there is no need for us to use this one. We want to make it a win/win. So, with that in mind, we wish you the best of luck on your march! We hope it is a success for you.
Please feel free to visit us on Facebook and our www.gmofreeidaho.com to find out what we are working on. We will continue the work of educating, raising awareness and working toward a solution, one step at a time.
In solidarity!

ORIGINAL POST
GMO Free Idaho was not the original organizer of this event. The original organizer had to bow out of this event due to personal issues....so GMO Free Idaho is happily taking over :) with one exception.
And see my arts and culture blog.
Obviously, we are opposed to Monsanto but our organization has come to the consensus that we want to March FOR GMO LABELING instead of AGAINST MONSANTO.
Therefore, we have changed the name of the event and thus, we will march for GMO labeling!
Right now there is a federal bill to label GM foods. We want to march to encourage our local legislators to support this bill and our RIGHT TO KNOW!
GMO Free Idaho is also submitting legislation next session for GMO labeling in our state.
Come show your support for GMO labeling! Bring signs and make some noise!
We will meet at the bandshell at Julia Davis park and march to the State Capitol where GMO Free Idaho Co-Founders Leslie Stoddard and Jenny Easley will speak and pass around petitions for our legislators and a volunteer sign up sheet for taking action in our local area.
More details coming soon! We thank you for your support and even though we are modifying the format of this event, we hope to still see you all there!
