Hello all-
I am currently working on a series of articles and hopefully a documentary, detailing the difficulties low income Americans face when attempting to "dig out of a hole", versus the ease with which corporations and the wealthy are able to receive "assistance".
As such I am reaching out for your stories! Follow me below the squiggly for how you can help.
Basically what I'm looking for are your stories concerning your attempts to receive assistance in your state as a low income individual or family. I would like to divide them into these categories:
Public assistance- Any stories of difficulties or malfeasance while attempting to get food stamps, medical assistance, rent help, etc.
Corporate assistance- This would be any time you have tried to pay down a bill, be it car, utilities, or home, and tried to navigate a low income assistance program via a corporation (most "public" utilities, such as ComEd, are owned by private companies). Again any stories of difficulties or malfeasance you encountered.
Collections assistance-I'm giving this its own category since I fear it will be the largest. Any stories of difficulties or malfeasance when working with a collections agency as a low income individual.
It would be incredibly helpful for my own organization and notes if you could include what category you feel your story belongs in the title, but isn't in any way necessary. Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing your stories.
