Remember New York Times 'reporter' John Broder? He wrote the fraudulent review of the gas-free Tesla Model S car back in February titled, "Stalled Out on Tesla's Electric Highway".
It soon came out that during Broder's test drive, he intentionally tried to drain the car's power reserves, failing to fully charge it at designated stations, and even at one point driving it in circles inside a parking garage in hopes of killing the battery.
Here is the Broder Tesla hit job:

Once all of Broder's sabotage attempts came out, I could only assume he was somehow working for Big Oil, aiming to trash the electric vehicle that was named Motor Trend's 2013 Car of the Year. Despite the article's wide debunking, it did wind up hurting Tesla's stock price once it was published.
Here is some debunking of Broder from Forbes:
As the State of Charge log shows, the Model S battery never ran out of energy at any time, including when Broder called the flatbed truck.
Cruise control was never set to 54 mph as claimed in the article, nor did he limp along at 45 mph. Broder in fact drove at speeds from 65 mph to 81 mph for a majority of the trip and at an average cabin temperature setting of 72 F.
At the point in time that he claims to have turned the temperature down, he in fact turned the temperature up to 74 F.

Well, today it looks like there may be proof that John Broder is the dirt bag big oil shill he appeared to be. His article in today's Times is titled:
Some Hope Obama Offers Tradeoff if He Approves Pipeline
A classic bit of Fox News-style "somesayism", it begins:
WASHINGTON — President Obama’s first major environmental decision of his second term could be to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, profoundly disappointing environmental advocates who have made the project a symbolic test of the president’s seriousness on climate change.
But could some kind of deal be in the offing, a major climate policy announcement on, for example, power plant regulation or renewable energy incentives, to ease the sting of the pipeline approval?
http://www.nytimes.com/...
Um, no, Mr. Broder, some kind of deal is not in the offing, despite your most fevered wet dreams. And it is not a 'symbolic test', even if that's what Frank Luntz told you to say.
Broder goes on to quote some energy expert nobody's heard of:
“Presidents don’t get many opportunities to make big dramatic announcements,” said Paul Bledsoe, a former energy adviser in the Clinton White House and now a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund. “If and when he announces approval of Keystone, he has a once-in-a-term teachable moment on climate.”
Mr. Bledsoe suggested that the president use the opportunity to announce a new regime of regulation for existing coal-fired power plants, which account for a third of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.
I can only pray that BS articles like this are a sign that Big Oil knows it may be about to lose the war to get this disastrous pipeline built. And we should thank John Broder for making it plain to all that he's little more than a soulless puppet of the fossil fuel industry.
Update:
From second gen in the comments:
AND, Tesla posted a profit for the first time, (1+ / 0-)
so EFF Broder.

After a hiatus of over 1 1/2 years, Meteor Blades has revived his excellent series. As MB explained, this weekly diary is a "round-up with excerpts and links... of the hard work so many Kossacks put into bringing matters of environmental concern to the community... I'll be starting out with some commentary of my own on an issue related to the environment, a word I take in its broadest meaning."
