Everything was just "swell" then, wasn't it?
"Freedom was really on the March" then.
"Terrorism events" were never used to change public perceptions then. That would be beyond the Bush Administration pale ... or would it?
Ridge: Bush Wanted Terror Threat Raised for Election
by Nick McMaster, Newser Staff -- Aug 20, 2009
The publisher of Tom Ridge's forthcoming book has dropped a potential bombshell: It says the Bush White House pressured the Homeland Security chief to arbitrarily raise the terror threat alert level on the eve of the 2004 election, ostensibly to boost its chances, reports US News and World Report. [...]
When Republicans managed the Terrorism 'Fear Meter',
the CIA never provided us with talking point assessments, telling us
what we should think, and when we should think it.
Republicans would never "varnish the truth" like that ... or would they?
Bush Administration Credibility Suffers After Iran NIE Report
FoxNews.com -- December 07, 2007
The new National Intelligence Estimate -- which says Iran had a nuclear weapons development program, but halted it in 2003 -- made President Bush's week play out like a sad country song.
[...]
The administration remains resolute in its position that policy toward Iran shouldn’t change. This is because while the NIE said with "high confidence" that the program halted in 2003, the estimate only says with "moderate confidence" that it had not started up again earlier this year, and "moderate-to-high" confidence that it remained off-line as the report was being released.
[...]
Color me confused.
Where was bin Laden again, in all that Bush-era Talking Point hoopla?
Walking around quietly somewhere -- Totally unphased by the hair-on-fire Republican Angst.
Remember when Republicans managed the 'Meter of Fear'?
Everything was just "swell" then, wasn't it?
"Freedom was really on the March" then. Those WMD were buried (like W said) BUT only in the Iraqi Roads -- who knew?
Kerry: Bin Laden Is Bush's Failure
by Ed O'Keefe, abcnews.go.com, ThisWeek -- April 23, 2006
In an exclusive interview, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., told ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the latest purported recording from Osama bin Laden "underscores the failure of [the Bush] administration to capture" the terror leader.
"Osama Bin Laden is loose today because we allowed him to escape at Tora Bora," said Kerry, echoing a statement often heard during his failed 2004 presidential bid.
[...]
Kerry slammed the administration's Iraq policy, arguing, "There's no excuse … for American troops to be driving by IEDs and getting blown up." Kerry continued, "Where is the standing down? It isn't taking place."
Funny it seems like Senator Kerry knew about the real dangers in Iraq. Knew what real Fear was there. Kerry knew the real cost of war then (and he still does now.)
Funny how Senator Kerry got that "promotion" to the State Dept, hey? That's got to stick in the Republican Benghazi-waving craw.
Because afterall "it's supposed to be THEM" with their clammy claws on the on 'Meter of Fear.' Dems need not apply for that civic duty.
Doncha know, all the rightwing talkers tell us so?
Well bin Laden knows, NOW -- Just how Dems deal with that 'Meter of Fear' -- AND hair-on-fire Angst has very little to do with it.
Competence, is the ingredient that matters, folks. That, and Results.
