Could have fooled me after reading the lead stories in NY Times, WAPO and HuffPO this morning.
You want to whistle past the graveyard and pretend this stuff isn't happening, go right ahead.
It is happening, and it's not going away anytime soon.
Benghazi is pretty much over, but the IRS and AP/First amendment scandals are turned up on high on the front burner, and are threatening to make this administration into an inept laughing stock at best, corrupt and engaged in illegal cover ups and activity at worst.
It is not over because we've got our own guns trained on the administration in both of these "scandals".
If we're supposedly pissed off at our own administration, imagine what the other side is making of this stuff.
Pretending this stuff is just going to go away doesn't do any of us any good.
I'm not saying I have the answers to any of these things, because I don't.
I still believe that the IRS scandal is more smoke than fire, but it looks really friggin' bad, and unfortunately our enemies really like to exploit things that look bad for us.
The AP scandal is really the most interesting one, because taking a side on it is really a high wire act for both parties.
For us, get too high and mighty with our vaunted first amendment rights and you risk doing real damage to the administration. Unfortunately for us, we try and occasionally do the right thing, which isn't always the most expedient or advantageous thing politically. In this instance, it could be very damaging and open the floodgates for a bipartisan pile on.
For them, come on too strong for first amendment rights and you risk looking weak on national security. Clearly, this position for them is purely opportunistic politics, they couldn't care less about the first amendment, but stuff like this is catnip to these assholes, they just can't resist.
But for them, spinning this stuff to their base is much easier, as long at it's hurting Obama, they can be fast and loose with the particulars.
No, ladies and gents, we're just getting started with "scandalgate".
We're going to hell in a bucket, so just try and enjoy the ride.
