Received this e-mail today from Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Braley (D. IA) and Zach Wahls from Scouts for Equality:
Tomorrow, leaders from local Boy Scouts of America councils across the country are gathering to vote to end the archaic ban and allow the participation of all youth regardless of their sexual orientation. It could be a landmark moment in the proud history of the Boy Scouts--one of America's most cherished cultural institutions.
While lifting the ban would be a big step in the right direction, the Scouts also need to address their exclusion of gay Scout leaders. That's why we need your help.
Spread the word: Take a moment to add your name to this open letter calling on the Boy Scouts to allow all openly gay Scouts, parents and Scout leaders to participate –– then forward this on to your friends and family asking them to do the same:

Ever since our first days as Cub Scouts, the lessons we learned from so many amazing Scout leaders and Den Mothers about leadership, integrity and hard work played an important part in shaping who we are today.
We are proud to call ourselves Scouts, and I hope tomorrow that pride continues if and when the Boy Scouts of America end their standing policy that excludes openly gay Scouts from participating.
Though many things have changed since our first Pinewood Derby race, the values we were taught in Boy Scouts stay with us to this day. And we hope we can continue to pass on those values to the youth of today.
Scouts for Equality has been working for the past several months to educate parents, scout leaders and the public about the need to end the ban. That's why we are asking the Boy Scouts of America to take this opportunity to show young men what true leadership and integrity is about: inclusion and equality for all.
I hope you'll join us in urging the Boy Scouts of America to lead on this issue and allow everyone to participate, regardless of their sexual orientation:
