A British soldier was killed by two men who attacked him with a machete, guns and other weapons on the streets of London yesterday. After the attack, the two terrorist waited around for the police to arrive were they were shot and wounded before being arrested.
One of the attackers made a statement to the news before the police arrived, saying,
"We swear by Almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you. The only reasons we have done this is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye a tooth for tooth. We apologize that women had to see this today but in our lands, our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don't care about you."
Terrorist like that often evoke their god when they commit terrorist attacks. It would seem that their god is not very powerful if he needs the help of his followers to commit violence against people. Perhaps their god is quite weak if he does not have the strength to do his own dirty work but instead, needs men like these to terrorize and kill others.
I would speculate, if their god exists at all, it is not Allah or Jehovah but old Satan himself, the god of this world. A real god, like the one I believe in, has the power to kill someone if he really wants him or her dead, a lightning bolt or just a plain old heart attack would do the job. The very idea that God needs someone to carry out heinous attacks against innocent civilians makes no sense whatsoever.
Those who commit terrorist acts, do so out of their own anger and hate. Evoking the name of their god, or who they assume is their god, does not condone their evil act or give them a righteous purpose. If Allah or the Christian god Jehovah or some other supposedly almighty god wants to reap terror upon a nation, they have the option of using earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods or any number of methods to carry it out, without their followers lifting one finger to help them.
I understand that governments can commit evil acts themselves and perhaps so-called jihadist have a real gripe when it comes to how Muslims are treated by certain nations and governments. However, committing acts of terror against innocent people or even an unsuspecting soldier who is not even on the battlefield, is not about any god but about that terrorist's own hate, though their cause be justified or not.
For those who believe in God, though they be Muslims, Christians, Jewish or any other religion, prayer is the method to take care of one's problems and one's enemies. Prayer is an act of faith by true believers, not acts of terror. Committing a terrorist attack in the name of a god, gives that god a bad name and makes that god look evil to the rest of the world. Spiritual strength comes from endurance, vision, courage and self-discipline, not revenge.
