Sandy Hook Green / White Duck in front of Candlelight vigil members
On the evening of May 14th, 2013 First Parish Framingham (MA) Unitarian Universalist church, jointly with Citizens for Sensible Gun Policy, hosted a Visibility & Candlelight Vigil on the fifth month anniversary of the Sandy Hook, Connecticut massacre. This visibility & candlelight vigil was in memory of the twenty children and six adults killed in that tragedy and thousands of unnamed others who have died from gun violence in the short five months since that event.
About 50 people showed up. After reciting the names of victims, there were a few minutes of silence for the attendees before the church bells chimed on the hour, bringing an unexpected and poignant ending to the event.
The Senate has failed to pass any gun control legislation, and the pro-gun lobbyists claim victory. Shame on them. This lack of progress towards this legislation must be criticized in a grass roots civil action. Wake up, Washington!
Another candlelight vigil is planned on June 14th in Natick for the sixth month anniversary of the Sandy Hook Massacre. Contact Citizens for Sensible Gun Policy for more information about this vigil or planning a vigil in your own community.
