Well I started a little pissed.  I was supposed to meet up with friends at a club rather far from my home.  They blew all their money earlier at a casino so they didn't meet up with me.  All that wasted time and gas for a person of very modest means.  Kind of pissed me off.  Oh well.

Continued over the doddliewig.

But as I was pulling into my home Hotel California came on the radio.  The radio for gods sake.  I couldn't help but think what someone 500 years ago would have thought about the radio.  Would the lyrics even make sense.  Could the music even translate from the electric guitar and base.  Did they even have drums that sound as crisp and clear as a modern snare drum.  I don't know as I turned up the volume.

A radio in a CAR.  A car that has a speedometer that goes to 140 and has probably been driven that fast as it is an old police cruiser. A vehicle that even I could afford.  Could people 500 years ago even afford a horse.  A heated vehicle burning ancient sunlight that most people could operate with only modest training on a system of roads that could even allow for those great speeds an distances.  Driven by a guy who would be dead years ago for lack of what we consider simple medical care.

So I guess I got a brief glimpse of happiness for a person mired in the same old BS oppression that people 500 years ago probably didn't even aspire to rise above.

oh well it is over back to the grind.

I might add something later.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
