I haven't written about this here, I'm exhausted, elated, and saddened at so much hate bubbling to the surface
In the wake of Sunday’s last-ditch demonstration in Paris against a new French law legalising same-sex marriage and adoption, protest organisers and participants already had their sights set on future battles.
I have heard it all, replied so many, many times.
It has passed the constitutional threshold
France's constitutional court on Friday approved a gay-marriage bill passed by parliament on April 23. President François Hollande is expected to sign the bill into law on Saturday, legalising marriage and adoption for same-sex couples.
It has been signed into law
France's president has signed into law a controversial bill making the country the ninth in Europe, and 14th globally, to legalise gay marriage.
Most of the arguments centered around the adoption clause rather than the actual marriage part. This hurt horribly, it basically pointed out that you were unsuitable and incapable of raising children, and some of the comments were so nasty.
Time will heal this rift and mend some cracked friendships, some are irretrievably shattered forever.
The law will not be overturned anytime soon if ever, all that I ask is for those who object is to give it time and to see that the LGBT community is loving, caring and responsible; and not the monsters some on the extreme right would like to pretend we are.
As I say I'm exhausted, elated and saddened, time to just be quiet and talk about something else, time will show that love is enough.
