If Politico is going to engage in slow news day speculation about who might be on Hillary Clinton's campaign team if she runs in 2016 (and you know Politico is), it can at least bring us
some good news. Like this:
Clinton donors were relieved when The Washington Post reported that Mark Penn, the pollster who was demonized by many on the campaign for his style and strategy, would likely have no part in Hillary ‘’16 despite his continued contact with the Clintons and their staffs.
“The only people I or other people have talked about that we don’t ever want to see again is Mark Penn,” said one veteran Clinton donor. “He was just the beyond the pale.”
Fine. If this is how it's going to be, this is one place I won't complain (too much) about the excessive influence of big donors. Not that Penn's ass shouldn't have been kicked to the curb long ago on the basis of results, but at this point, whatever it takes to keep him out of any major role in Clinton's hypothetical campaign is good enough for me.
