So we own a old trailer in North Myrtle Beach and the past month is when the bikers converge on the coast .The two events ,like most things in the south, are a throw back to segregation I think but not sure. The first week is predominantly white middle age and male with just a hand full of women. The second event is mostly black much younger with a much higher presence of women. Without explaining in to much detail the political leanings of the two groups based on the various t-shirts and bumper stickers goes with out saying .
My wife and I where very disappointed with the first week .The bikers being the older group mostly on "HOGS" were by and large rude ....just rude, didn't look like they frequented many of the local business's and we saw a large police presence actively engaged the whole time,, ,the police looked as frustrated as we felt. The second week with the younger crowd seemed so much better .There weren't as many police,I never saw the blue lights come on and the local business's were doing great business and to top it off the second group were so much nicer holding doors at gas stations ,letting traffic move in front of them ,in general they acted like they were on vacation and were happy about it and didnt want anything to spoil it. It made me wonder how much more coarse the country would have become had Romney and the tea party had took over this year......
