Received this e-mail from Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz's (D. PA-13) gubernatorial campaign in her bid to unseat vulnerable incumbent Governor Tom Corbett (R. PA):
A few weeks ago I met with Allyson Schwartz and her team to talk about the importance of the grassroots in her campaign for Governor. At the end of the conversation, she turned to me and said, “Your Draft Allyson effort helped convince me to run. Are you ready to help me win?”
Of course I said “yes.” So as the newly appointed Grassroots Coordinator of Pennsylvania for Allyson, I want to ask those of you who, like me, have known Allyson a long time a similar question: The support and enthusiasm you’ve shown for Allyson has encouraged her to run. Are you ready to sign up to be a grassroots leader of the campaign and help her win?

We are a year from the primary and 18 months from the general election. This is very early to be building a team of grassroots activists. No other candidate for Governor in 2014 will do it. No other candidate has the capacity do it. But we intend to run this campaign from the bottom up, not the top down. Allyson gets it:
-She understands just how much people in Pennsylvania are suffering from and want to fight back against a governor who has presided over a stagnant economy in Pennsylvania; who has slashed spending on education; and who has turned down a Medicaid expansion that would, at no cost to us, insure 600,000 Pennsylvanians and create 40,000 job.
-She has worked closely with grassroots activists throughout her whole career knows that the work you do will make the difference, not just between victory and defeat but between success and failure in her effort to change politics in Harrisburg.
Allyson needs thousands of people like you to be full partners in her campaign for office. Click here to sign up to be a grassroots leader and help us start building that grassroots effort now!

Even though it’s early there is much you can do with a just a few hours every week or so. We are looking for:
Activists who can help us by sending out letters to the editor in support of the campaign, recruiting others to join our campaign email list, posting on Facebook and Twitter, coming to local events for Allyson, getting Allyson’s message out at other local political events, and making some phone calls to recruit people to those events.
Team leaders who can do all that and also help us arrange and recruit people to local meet-ups of the campaign.
We’ll provide you with the literature and buttons and lists and other material you need to be effective. And we’ll listen to and support your best ideas for building the campaign. All of our activists and team leaders will have an opportunity to take part in conference calls with each other, with the campaign staff, and with Allyson herself. You will get special emails about the campaign. And you will have my help in doing this critical work. (It’s way too early for t-shirts, but when we do those, you’ll get ones that identify you as one of our original grassroots leaders.)
Allyson is no ordinary politician. She’s not going to run an ordinary campaign. She’s going to run a campaign that sends Tom Corbett packing and returns effective, results driven leadership to Harrisburg. And she needs our help to do it.
Please sign up to be a grassroots leader today. And please contact me if you have any questions or ideas for the campaign.
