So, after my last post, I've received a very warm welcome from the community as well as some constructive criticism (which I encourage). For my second post, I figured I'd suggest improvements instead of just pointing out problems. Feel free to add on to the list in the comments, I'll add them into the diary if they're useful or clever.
1. Politicians should wear buttons or pins representing their donors.
-Besides doing research on them, the average joe/jane has no idea who's funding a politician's campaign. An anti-gun person might accidentally vote for someone who gets funding from the NRA.
-The sizes of these pins/buttons should be determined by how much money they're getting from a donor.
2. Ranked Voting for elections.
-In some countries, they use a numbering system instead of a "pick one" option for electing candidates. Allow me to explain:
-Number from 1-5 in order of who you'd want, 1 counts more than a 5.
-If you don't like a candidate, leave it blank and they don't get anything.
-Hopefully, this will help balance the votes when there is more than two candidates.
3. A federal ID card. (Disregard this one, I've been told it was a bad idea to say the least.)
-It seems silly that most people use a drivers license (as in, it's for operating a vehicle, not being a citizen) as a photo ID, why not have a national ID for everyone over 16? This would (at least moderately) ease fears about people registering as other people to vote multiple times.
-I mean, at least have a photo on record for people to look at so they know its you.
4. Get rid of the electoral college (by CwV)
-It's not fair to the majority, and I honestly think the public shouldn't be out voted by a select few.
5. Make voting a Wednesday (Also by CwV)
-"So it doesn't blend into a long weekend, a national holiday where people who HAVE TO work that day get doubletime (to encourage their employers to close shop that day). There is NOTHING to do that day but politics."
