And it boggles the mind.
Every call made by every American that uses Verizon technology.
http://www.politico.com/...
What does it require?
It requires Verizon to turn over an ongoing record of the following:
A) originating and terminating telephone number
B) International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) number
C) International Mobile station Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, etc.),
D) trunk identifier,
E) telephone calling card numbers
F) time and duration of call.
And on what calls?
Basically, if it involves an American, it's being snooped on. The only calls exempted from this are calls that originate and terminate solely overseas. If it involves an American in any way shape or form, it gets hoovered up and reported to the NSA.
Your call to Aunt May about the recipe for Brownies? Reported.
Your call to your sick father in law in Poughkipsee? Reported
Your call to your old friend in London? Reported
Your friend calling you to let you know he's languishing in a Tijuana jail? Reported.
We knew it was bad, but we didn't know it was THIS bad.
