Chicago, Illinois - Strikers Shut Down Cafes and Clubs
The strike of the Restaurant Employees is spreading. Today six more establishments were shut down including the Athletic Association. Here Business Agent Lucky Baldwin along with his assistant Leo Schultz climbed the fire escape to gain entrance to the kitchen. Schultz shouted, "There is a strike on here!" The cooks dropped their work and informed their fellow workers of the strike situation. Within ten minutes the kitchen was closed.
Next, Baldwin and Schultz headed to the billiard room where soon the bartenders, markers, and bowling ally boys walked out. Leo Schultz was arrested and taken to the Harrison street station. He has been charged with burglary.

Paterson, New Jersey - Socialist Editor, Alexander Scott, Sentenced to 1-15 Years!
Alexander Scott, editor of the Socialist Weekly Issue, was sentenced today to a term of 1 to 15 years in the Trenton State Prison by Judge Klenert. His crime was "defaming the government," namely, the Paterson Police. He told the truth about the Paterson Police and their brutal treatment of the Silk Strikers which, it seems, is now a crime in the state of New Jersey. Notice of appeal was filed, and Scott is free, for now, on $3000 bail

Email from American Rights at Work: Walmart Gets a Restraining Order
Walmart workers across the country are still on the longest strike in Walmart history!
These brave workers are making headlines, which has Walmart running scared. As workers arrived in Arkansas to take their protest to the company's annual shareholder meeting this week, Walmart got a judge to issue a temporary restraining order to block anyone from entering Walmart property in the state for any purpose other than shopping. It's another example of the retailer's efforts to intimidate anyone who dares speak up about working at Walmart.
In light of this news, I plan to become a Walmart Shopper once again. Tomorrow I plan to take a one dollar bill and spend it at Walmart. Front and back of my shirt will carry this message: "I support OUR Walmart Strikers! Stop the Retaliation!" The injunction does not say how much one has to spend in order to be considered a shopper at Walmart. It seems even a small piece of candy could make for a Walmart shopping trip.
