Last weekend, I mentioned that Nigeria may be about to enact one of the most odious anti-gay laws in the world. It would not only stiffen Nigeria's already draconian laws against same-sex marriage, but would make merely forming a gay rights organization punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Thus far, American religious right groups have remained silent about this new law--until earlier this week. MassResistance, the largest religious right outfit in Massachusetts, issued a press release that amounts to the print equivalent of a standing ovation supporting this outrageous law.
The government of Nigeria, which has one of the world's largest populations of AIDS sufferers, is outraged by what they feel is the Western world's efforts to subvert public morality. They are now taking bold steps to fight back.
Almost predictably, Great Britain and the United States are threatening to take action against Nigeria for having the nerve to challenge Western political correctness.

In many ways, the Africans are feeling the brunt of the world-wide homosexual activist movement even more than the United States. They are dealing with the huge spread of AIDS. But also, the breakdown in society caused by the homosexual movement seems to bring more general social destruction in African cultures than in the West. And nation after nation has had enough.
MassResistance included an excerpt of
an AP wire story about the bill in its press release. Notice what got snipped out of their excerpt, though? The part that mentions this bill makes merely supporting gay rights a crime. They were kind enough to link to it, though. The most benign interpretation of this is that MassResistance doesn't have the guts to publicly admit it supports a bill that would never stand up in any American court--or that it no longer supports free speech.
