The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note of any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.Yesterday morning I heard that all-too-familiar thump of a bird slamming into a window. It happened in almost the same spot on the same window as another collision this spring. I have no idea why that spot is so appealing to a bird on the wing. The room was unlit, and it was a long way across the room to the next window.
The unfortunate victim was a robin. It stood on the ground, dazed, with its beak open. The robin barely noticed my approach with the camera. Later on, the bird was gone. Hopefully it is okay, and a bit wiser about those strange transparent rectangles on my house.
The floor's open. Let's hear your reports from around the USA, and from points beyond.
