Yesterday, Rand Paul gave us another full-throated reminder that he's a classic stopped clock. At the opening day of the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to the Majority Conference, Paul spouted the usual religious right claim that the big, bad libruls are ganging up on good Christians. But he took it a step further. In Paul's world, this is no different from countries who actually put Christians to death. People for the American Way got a clip.
PFAW reports that Paul was peeved at the Senate voting down his bill to cut off aid to Pakistan, Egypt and Libya. It didn't just lose, it lost big--81-10 To Paul's mind, this is evidence Christians are being persecuted at taxpayer expense.
Paul also demanded aid be cut off to any country that burns the American flag. So much for being a hardliner on free speech, huh?
