Folk's Greenwald is pissed with Obama for filing espionage charges against his partner Snowden and accused the administration of a "vindictive mentality."TPM said this:
“I think it’s very surprising to accuse somebody of espionage who hasn’t worked for a foreign government, who didn’t covertly pass information to an adversary-enemy of the United States, who didn’t sell any top secret information, who simply went to newspapers, asked newspapers to very carefully vet the information to make sure that the only thing being published are things that inform his fellow citizens but doesn’t harm national security," Greenwald said in a phone interview. "That is not espionage in any real sense of the word.”
If I could have a word with Greenwald, I'd give him this advice to keep him from absolutely making a fool of himself. I'm afraid it's to late:
1. Just write the stories and shut-up. Your advocacy journalism is reminding me of James O'keefe. That's foolish, my man.
2. Quit responding to every one of your critics. Makes you look childish and petulant.
3. Quit managing Snowden's image--you're supposed to be a "journalist," not his publicists.
4. Quit telling me what I should be outraged about--that's offensive and foolish.
5. Quit taking everything Snowden's says for absolute law. There's still a healthy skepticism about the veracity of some of his claims.
6. Quit claiming to speak for the American people and let your work speak for itself.
7. Cancel your TV tour...you look angry and out of control.
8. Now that Snowden has been charged, don't become a co-conspirator in this mess.
9. Quit playing the god of America's consciousness...it's getting old.
10. It is absolutely foolish to think that any president (regardless of party) would allow "any leaker" to distribute intelligence information around the world without repercussions. For you to think this President would give him an "ata-boy" and open the door to a flood of others is utterly foolish and devoid of understanding.
Yes, I believe Greenwald has poisoned this story.
