Now that John Roberts and his activist gang of tools have
gutted the Voting Rights Act—because, hey, it's not 1960 and racism and discrimination no longer exist in America—what are the odds that Congress will address the second coming of Jim Crow? According to some Republicans,
think end times:
Senior Republican aides in both chambers said dealing with the Voting Rights Act is unlikely anytime soon. Asked what’s more likely, the voting rights act being addressed by Congress this year or next, or the start of the end times, one House Republican aide said simply “the latter,” while a colleague quipped “Likeliest: Al Sharpton and Jesse Helms press conference to outline new Voting Rights Act.”
So, what are the odds that Mr. Quipster is white and has never waited in lines for hours to vote before being asked for ID? About a million times more likely than today's travesty being fixed.
It’s a little known fact that the U.S. Constitution does not guarantee the right to vote for everyone, but we are fighting to change this. Please sign the petition to join Daily Kos, Color of Change, and a growing movement to pass a constitutional amendment guaranteeing and protecting the freedom to vote for all.
