My new favorite women in the world this morning are Texas State Senators Wendy Davis, Judith Zafforini, and Leticia Van de Putte. My favorite new man is Kirk Watson, who I'm proud to call my Senator.
They made history last night. I'm not saying the Republicans won't come back and try some more dirty tricks to pass their draconian restrictions on women's heath and choices, but last night will not be forgotten.
R.I.P. SB5. Don't Mess With Texas.
This morning I read what Gilberto Hinojosa, the chair of the Texas Democratic Party had to say about Wendy Davis and her political future:
Asked about her potential political future, Hinojosa cracked a wide grin. “Wendy is not only extremely intelligent and articulate, she’s great on the issues and she’s got a great personal story — a single mother who made it out of a life of poverty to go to Harvard law school, then gets elected to the city council and the Texas Senate by beating an incumbent Republican,” he said. “She is someone that can really, really excite people across the state of Texas, who really shows true leadership.”
She has a great story. She made history last night and is now a nationally known name. She took a stand for what she believed in.
Wendy Davis for Governor of Texas.
Wouldn't it be grand to kick Perry to the curb?
