Is it any wonder? We're all sick of the neanderthals running Texas (well, when we're not laughing at them), and have long awaited the day the pendulum would swing back in our direction. Demographics are slated to accomplish that by 2024. Hillary Clinton would accelerate that timeline to 2016. But we don't want to wait, and state Sen. Wendy Davis is giving us reason to accelerate that timeline another two years—to next year!
At a time when everything coming out of Texas is suck, Davis has brought back some of that good ol' progressive fire for which Texas used to be known.
This isn't a hopeless cause. Had Texas Latinos voted at the same rates as whites, Mitt Romney's 16-point victory would've been about five points. And all things being equal, that 16-point gap should close by a rate of about 1.25 points per year. Of course, we won't fix the Latino voting problem by next year, and not enough time will have passed to be bailed out by demographics. But let's not forget this poll from earlier this year:
Lots of people have been thanking Wendy Davis. Let's do something a little more ambitious: Join our Wendy Davis for Governor effort. Lend your name, then drop $3 to $5 dollars in her campaign account if you can spare it. Let's show her that the whole country will back her if she decides to make Texas Blue a few years ahead of schedule.
And if you want another reason to get excited about Davis, watch this.
So let's do it! Let's get her in the race!
Update: Added thermometer, because why not? But you don't need to have money to contribute to this draft effort. Click this link to lend your name and a note of encouragement, to the effort.
