*Darth Vader pulls out Darth Issa's lightsaber*
DARTH VADER: You remember this?
DARTH ISSA: Yes! That's my light saber! How did...
DARTH VADER: You have failed me again for continuing to backtrack on the IRS scandal. You don't know the power of the Dark Side of the Force.
At this point, it's safe to say Darrell Issa no longer has control over this IRS "scandal," whatever he calls it as. The following video courtesy of CNN and MSNBC reveals this.
Here's some information and transcript from Greg Sargent's The Morning Plum column in the Washington Post:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
In a key moment, Rep. Darrell Issa — the chair of the Oversight Committee and a lead investigator into the IRS scandal — is now claiming he never, ever said the White House or the Obama campaign was behind the targeting. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash (at the 1:30 mark), he said this:
“I’ve never said it came out of the office of the President or his campaign. What I’ve said is, it comes out of Washington.”
And yet, later in the very same interview, Issa said this:
“For years, the president bashed the Tea Party groups. He was very public against these groups. And on his behalf — perhaps not on his request — on his behalf, the IRS executed a delaying tactic against the very groups that he talked about.”
Ok. So Darrell Issa says the scandal came not from the White House but from Washington.
Um, genius, the White House is in Washington.
Furthermore, what bearing does President Obama's supposed "bashing" on the Tea Party groups have on this IRS investigation if Issa says the scandal didn't come from the White House?
Per the video above, here's CNN's Dana Bash questioning Darrell Issa on any evidence. This may be the closest Issa has come to blowing up.
DANA BASH: Do you have any evidence of that based on the interviews you've done or are you just...
DARRELL ISSA: Dana...
DANA BASHING: ...Making assumptions?
DARRELL ISSA: Dana, you cannot close a case. You can never close a case on what you don't know. You can only close the case on what you do know.
BRILLIANT! Does this sound like a sufficient response?
Nah, didn't think so.
Regardless, Darrell Issa is just making things harder for him in his CA-49 Congressional District, which has seen an uptick in Democratic and Independent voter registration as of 2012, making it not a deep red district but a lean Republican district (still allowing Issa with a considerable level of support among conservatives and Republicans). And that's fine because we'll make things even harder for him come 2014.
In order to do so, contact the San Diego County Democratic Party and see what you can do as far as volunteering, whether it be GOTV, voter registration drives or anything else in the CA-49 district:
