I just can't get enough of Chris Christie! He's amazing and I fully endorse him for re-election!
Yes, unfortunately, it is so. Point Pleasant, NJ Mayor William Schroeder has officially announced his endorsement for Chris Christie's re-election:
http://www.nj.com/...
POINT PLEASANT — Mayor William Schroeder joined the growing list of Democrats who have backed Gov. Chris Christie in his reelection bid.
In brief comments, Schroeder said "it's been about a year or so that I started to develop a great relationship with the governor's office and it's been rewarding for me and also for the residents of the borough of Point Pleasant."
"I fully endorse him for reelection," said the Shore mayor, who chose him over state Sen. Barbara Buono, the Middlesex County lawmaker who won the Democratic nomination for governor.
Ahhh, so it's been about a year or so. So Mayor William Schroeder has developed a great relationship with Christie's office and it's be SO rewarding for him.
Furthermore, there have more Democrats who have pulled their decision to endorse Christie for re-election out of their ass:
Schroeder is the third Jersey Shore mayor to cross party lines and throw their support behind the Republican governor.
Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider endorsed Christie earlier this month and Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long came out in support of the governor in February.
Other Democrats in favor of Christie include state Sen. Brian Stack, a Union City mayor and a Democratic power broker in Hudson County, and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo.
I guess these "Democrats," if you call them that, haven't seen this video:
Or this news on Christie's veto on NJ expanding Medcaid eligibility:
http://www.reuters.com/...
(Reuters) - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Friday vetoed a bill that attempted to make the state's expansion of Medicaid eligibility permanent under the healthcare law known as Obamacare, his office said on Friday.
Christie's office announced he vetoed eight bills that "would add potentially hundreds of millions of dollars to state and local budgets." He also signed a $32.9 billion budget and three other bills, his office said in a statement.
Among the bills he vetoed was one dealing with Medicaid expansion under the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law known as Obamacare.
Christie, a critic of Obamacare, said in February he would accept federal money to expand Medicaid in New Jersey, and the state budget he signed on Friday included $227 million in such funds.
If this is enough for us Democrats to go "WHAT?!" then perhaps the NJ Democratic Party needs to be shaken up.
Crossing party lines to endorse someone from another party isn't necessarily abandoning principles nor is it a terrible thing so long as your reasoning being it has merit. Anyone has the right to support who they want and vote for who they want.
However, you have to question the judgement of William Schroeder, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider, Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long, State Senator Brian Stack and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo given Chris Christie's history and now what Christie has done on gay rights and even something as important as Medicaid.
Schroeder though, has an interesting history:
http://pointpleasant.patch.com/...
Schroeder is currently a Democrat who had been a Republican a number of years ago. The only other Democrats on the current Borough Council are Chris Goss and Chris Leitner.
Schroeder had originally registered as a Democrat, when first becoming a registered voter. Then he registered as a Republican in 1991 and served two terms as a council member and one term as mayor.
"Then the Republicans wouldn't endorse me in 2002 when I ran for reelection, so I went back to being a Democrat," he said.
Ahhh ok. So Mayor Schroeder didn't get the support of his own party in 2002 when he ran for re-election so he goes ahead and registers as a Democrat to gain support. How very interesting.
I think I know what's going on. In the Democrats who have endorsed Chris Christie for re-election all of a sudden, it's like Hurricane Sandy has made him this sudden god that no matter what he does as Governor that can piss off people like his objection to the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the DOMA act or the rejection of Medicaid, people will still support him and brush aside anything else.
A governor has to be more than an effective Governor during a disaster like Hurricane Sandy. Of course, it was right for President Obama and others in America to come together and help Chris Christie and others rebuild New Jersey. What sane person wouldn't do so?
But remember at the same time, let's not forget that when President Bush became the "war-time President" after 9/11, there were a few Democrats and liberals who endorsed him for re-election even while Daily Kos and the liberal community knew very well that Bush was also doing terrible things to the U.S. People like former U.S. Senator from Georgia Zell Miller, David Gambrell, former NYC Mayor Ed Koch, former Youngstown Ohio Mayor George McKelvey and former Saint Paul Minnesota Mayor Randy Kelly were all in the Democratic Party in 2004 and supported President Bush even while he was continuing to screw the U.S. over with the Iraq War and his overall agenda.
Same thing is happening for these other Democrats who are endorsing Chris Christie for re-election (most likely because of the Hurricane Sandy factor) while he's continued to take action in NJ on many things that anger Democrats to the core.
Just because a disaster, natural or not, hits U.S. soil, doesn't mean we shouldn't criticize our leaders for other things and just blindly support them for re-election.
If you feel the need to complain to the following Democratic office holders who have chosen to support Chris Christie for re-election, even while he has chastized the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the DOMA act and given Medicaid the short end of the stick (and done other things that have pissed of Democrats in the state), here's the following contact information:
