On Wednesday, June 26, 2013, Kimberly McCarthy was executed in Texas:
McCarthy's execution was the 500th in the state since capital punishment was restored in 1976. She was also the 18th person executed in the United States so far this year and the eighth in Texas.
...
"This is not a loss, this is a win. You know where I am going. I am going home to be with Jesus, keep the faith, I love ya'll. Thank you chaplain," McCarthy said.
...
Texas has been by far the most active U.S. state in executing prisoners, leaving Virginia a distant second with 110 executions, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.
Since January, a county judge postponed McCarthy's execution twice to address appeals by lawyer Maurie Levin, who raised questions about possible racial discrimination in the selection of the jury that convicted her. McCarthy is African-American.
...The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals overturned that conviction in 2001 because no lawyer was present when she was questioned, even though she had asked for one, according to court documents.
On the very next day, Thursday, June 27, 2013, sore-loser Texas Taliban misogynist Rick Perry chose to personally insult Texas State Senator Wendy Davis:
"Even the woman who filibustered the Senate the other day was born into difficult circumstances. She was the daughter of a single woman, she was a teenage mother herself. She managed to eventually graduate from Harvard Law School and serve in the Texas senate," Perry said Thursday in a speech to the National Right to Life Convention. "It is just unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters."
Every life? EVERY life? Even Kimberly McCarthy's? Did she have a chance to realize her full potential for redemption? Did her life matter? What about
Cameron Todd Willingham'slife - did his life matter?
Perry is the presiding undisputed champion of executing people.
On Wednesday, execute an African American woman who seems to have been given short shrift by the Texas "justice" system.
On Thursday, publicly insult an elected woman legislator and have the gall to say ALL life matters - while Kimberly McCarthy's body is still warm in a Texas morgue.
Perry the Texecutioner, presiding over one of the worst justice systems in American, and who participated in ram-roding through the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham, stands up in public and dares to say he believes that ALL life is sacred. Right.
This is how evil misogynists like Perry operate. I believe they receive sick, perverse pleasure from sucker punching, screwing over, controlling, and bullying others, especially women. They don't want to prevail on an issue they believe in good conscience. Oh no. For men like Perry it's all about humiliating, bullying, hurting, and intimidating - that's what they get off on. He is a vicious person.
Let's get this Taliban clown out of office.
