UPDATE 3: 8:17 PM EDT - That looks more like it, we are approaching a 3 to 1 margin for real freedom! But I must admit that I am disappointed; I expected overwhelming support and also too was sure that this would be my first diary to ever make it to the rec list. Clearly no rec list for me, but I can stand tall with the knowledge that I am fighting on the correct side of this issue!

UPDATE 2: 7:57 PM EDT - All is not lost, between B and D the real defenders of freedom are winning by a 2-1 margin. Not as good as the 5-6 to 1 I expected, but better. So common freedom loving Kossacks vote en masse for B or D - do it for our children!

UPDATE: 7:47 PM EDT - what is wrong with people voting in a way that defames the only civil rights organization that stands between us and tyranny!  I'll give the Kossacks that care about freedom some more time to overwhelm the anti-freedom people as they did in my other poll, but if it doesn't improve soon I may have to delete the whole diary.

Now that we know through scientific polling that Kossacks* believe that universal background checks are "A total destruction of Civil Rights" by an overwhelming majority (84-15), I guess it's time to further explore what the purpose or mission of the NRA is.

* Take it all you gun controlololololologists that always attack our rights!
Is it to make the largest possible profits for the manufacturers they represent or to defend the constitutional rights of all Americans?

I mean, just because the NRA executives make a fair wage (some even take huge pay-cuts or only see very small increases in pay) does not mean that they are not out there purely to defend the constitutional rights of all Americans, right?

The NRA has an absolute right to own politicians, but only a horrible American would accuse them of caring more about profits than about people and the fact that they own those politicians dies not mean that the only reason those politicians vote with the NRA is because they felt in any way coerced!

Just because some have posited that the NRA does not care about anyone's rights, only about money (warning - very nasty diary attacking the rights of Americans!) does not make it true! (Thankfully some alert defenders of freedom gave the idiot diarist some real zingers like: "This entire diary is a temper tantrum," and "I am defending the NRA ... " plus a few more great statements to put these people attacking the very core of what it means to be an American.)

Just because no one can explain how background checks violate anyone's rights does not mean that they are not. United States Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart gave us just the explanation: "I know (a total violation of rights) when I see it." (Perhaps he was confused when he said this in reference to First Amendment issues as he clearly believed that this applied to the Second Amendment, or maybe it is the revisionist media that is always gunning to confiscate every single firearm in our Country.)

Lets be serious people, the NRA is the only organization defending our freedoms as well as keeping our Country from slipping into totalitarianism (as happened in Australia when they confiscated every single gun).

All the people tying to violate my rights are in denial about the fact that the only way that guns ever get in the hands of criminals is theft. Sure the media trying to turn us into a totalitarian regime keeps repeating falsehoods like:

In fact, there are a number of sources that allow guns to fall into the wrong hands, with gun thefts at the bottom of the list. Wachtel says one of the most common ways criminals get guns is through straw purchase sales.
and
The next biggest source of illegal gun transactions where criminals get guns are sales made by legally licensed but corrupt at-home and commercial gun dealers. ... Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), is a huge source of crime guns and greatly surpasses the sale of guns stolen from John Q. Citizen. Like bank robbers, who are interested in banks, gun traffickers are interested in FFLs because that's where the guns are. This is why FFLs are a large source of illegal guns for traffickers, who ultimately wind up selling the guns on the street.

According to a recent ATF report, there is a significant diversion to the illegal gun market from FFLs.

That is all baloney! All that they want to do is tarnish the reputation of the most important civil rights organization that has ever existed in this Country, all to try to institute total violations of my rights like universal background checks.

And if that guy that keeps posting all those GunFAIL diaries thinks he's going to destroy my rights*, you have something coming to you - THE REAL GUNFAIL IS YOUR ATTEMPT TO DESTROY MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS!  Geez and I thought Daily KOS was supposed to stand fir freedom, not oppression! (Others mock open carry as our forefathers intended with the excuse that it makes people feel unsafe!)

After all, some rights are more equal than others. (hint: mine) And just like my sig line says, if we all don't stand up for the rights of responsible gun owners today - tomorrow may be too late! Call Harry Reid and the White House to tell them to stop destroying our freedoms; now that is Kossack activism at its best!  Also, too - stop maligning those tiny harmless bullets!

* As if adding more roman numerals than the Super Bowl made any of the lies told in these diaries into reality!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
